Common questions
Volunteer FAQ
Not at all — for most roles, especially clinic days and food distribution. We'll orient you and pair you with experienced team members. A calm demeanor around animals and a reliable presence are the most important qualities.
It depends on the role. Event volunteers commit to 2-4hr shifts. Remote roles like social media or grant writing can be just a few hours a month. TNR and transport are flexible. We work around your schedule.
For in-person roles like Pet Pantry, Vaccine Clinics and TNR, proximity to Okanogan County is helpful. But we also have many remote roles. Volunteers travel from all over Washington and even out of state specifically for events like Big Fix.
Absolutely — we love group volunteers at our Big Fix events and supply distribution days. Email volunteer@toarwa.org to coordinate a group volunteer day for your team, school, church, or organization.
Volunteers under 18 are welcome at most events with a parent or guardian present. Some roles involving animal handling or transport have age requirements. Contact us for details on youth volunteer opportunities.
